RADWAG Metrology Symposium

For three days, Radom became the world capital of metrology.
It is here that experts, scientists and industry representatives from all corners of the globe gathered for the 4th RADWAG Metrology Symposium to discuss the latest developments in mass metrology, share their experiences and jointly chart the course for future innovation.
This year, we were honoured to welcome participants from almost every continent: from Africa (including Cape Verde, the Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt and Morocco), North, Central and South America (the USA, Brazil and Guatemala), Asia (including Japan, South Korea, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam) and Europe (including Estonia, France, North Macedonia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom).
The first day of the 4th RADWAG Metrology Symposium was devoted to the future of commercial calibration laboratories and the role of international cooperation in the development of metrology. Participants heard presentations from representatives of RADWAG, national metrology institutes, accreditation bodies and partners from the Czech Republic, Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates. The presentations covered topics related to the development of metrology laboratories, international cooperation, modern weighing technologies, and the importance of accreditation and support for industry provided by national metrology institutes.
Following the morning session, participants took part in the official opening of the new headquarters of the RADWAG Metrology, Testing and Certification Centre in Wacławów, near Radom. The afternoon programme featured parallel sessions covering presentations on laboratory management software and a tour of the new centre. During this tour, we demonstrated state-of-the-art metrological solutions, including automatic and manual mass comparators, stations for determining the density and volume of mass standards, pipette calibration as well as laboratory balances. The day concluded with a gala dinner to foster camaraderie amongst the participants.
The second day of the 4th RADWAG Metrology Symposium was devoted to state-of-the-art solutions used in national metrology institutes and the development of technologies enabling the achievement and maintenance of the highest measurement accuracy. The programme began with a visit to the Świętokrzyskie Laboratory Campus of the Central Office of Measures in Kielce, where participants had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the modern research and laboratory infrastructure.
The lecture programme covered topics related to the use of artificial intelligence in metrology, ensuring the measurement consistency of mass standards, the activities of national metrology institutes, and the digitalisation of measurement processes. Experts from Poland, the Czech Republic, Türkiye, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and the United Arab Emirates presented the latest developments in the realisation of the kilogram, the development of Kibble balances, laboratory automation and the use of robotic mass comparators in everyday metrological practice. Participants learnt about the impact of new regulations, such as the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, on the fields of legal and industrial metrology.
The day concluded with a gala dinner, which provided an opportunity to share experiences and forge partnerships between representatives of national metrology institutes, laboratories and industry from around the world.
The third day of the 4th RADWAG Metrology Symposium was practical in nature; it focused on the presentation of modern technologies and their applications in metrology, scientific research and industry. The programme comprised four parallel thematic tracks, allowing participants to choose the topics which best suit their interests.
The session on the automation of calibration processes showcased RADWAG’s latest solutions in the field of automatic mass comparators, density and volume measurements of standards, and nano-weighing. The track on environmental protection focused on the automation of filter weighing processes used in air quality monitoring and the application of precise mass measurements in research into particulate matter. Participants interested in pipette calibration learnt about the latest changes to the ISO 8655 standard, modern automatic calibration systems and the challenges associated with laboratory accreditation. Meanwhile, the session on weighing modules presented solutions designed to automate production and laboratory processes, including weighing modules, robotic and automated weighing systems, and checkweighers.
Each track concluded with individual consultations with experts, providing an opportunity to deepen one’s knowledge and discuss the practical applications of the technologies presented. Following a group lunch, there was a summary of the three days’ proceedings and the official closing of the 4th RADWAG Metrology Symposium.
Thank you for joining us. Your presence confirmed that knowledge knows no boundaries, and that cooperation is the foundation for the development of science, industry and modern technologies.
